Created with low-cost and found materials, We Are Yellow consisted of assemblage pieces in the form of wind chimes. Publicly installed on the pedestrian path of the George Washington Bridge, they were hung on a fence that was erected by the NYPD in their effort to deter the suicide attempts by New Yorkers that had been occurring about every five days. Tenaciously painted yellow as a metaphor for the color’s ability to dually represent happiness but also detection of sickness, these objects invited viewers to interact and were left on the fence to be a product of their environment.
