NEW YORK GRITTY IS DYING public installation series consisted of BuildingBodies installed in neighborhoods currently undergoing rapid gentrification and were left on the street to exist and be a product of their environment. They're entirely handmade with found objects from the street, recycled objects from the studio, and low cost material. By humanizing these buildings, a meditation on the raw beauty of New York City streets responds to transformations in neighborhoods and it’s effect on the community. The building-bodies glorify the rawness of humans rather than the face lift some prefer, whether to the skin or to the streets. It is a means of emphasizing what residential structures manifest, the backbone of this city: it’s minorities and lower class Natives.
